HRF has identified and targeted community-based schools in several locations of Gilgit-Baltistan that are striving to provide quality education on modern standards to their students. Due to logistical and infrastructural inaccessibility, however, these schools are not able to provide modern technological facilities to their students. This is where HRF steps in: the foundation provides fully functioning computer labs that can facilitate up to 400 students in a school and include equipment in the way of computers, projectors, internet connections alongside relevant books and training for technical and academic staff.

Four schools in Gilgit-Baltistan – Hunza Public School, Le Rosey Model School, Nasir e Khusrow Model Academy and Al Murtaza High School – are being facilitated with these items in stages, aligned with targets set by HRF to efficiently integrate these computer systems in the daily life of students and teachers. The teaching staff and HRF’s representatives will slowly work towards incorporating the use of internet-learning within classroom curriculum, and utilizing these digital facilities in preparing examinations and worksheets.

These schools have also committed to hiring a dedicated computer teacher who will monitor the equipment and train other staff and students for the appropriate use of this technology. In subsequent stages, HRF also plans to collaborate with the school further, and provide students with a targeted digital on primary and secondary levels of study.
